From L-acoustics website — In September 1984, Dr. Christian Heil, a French physicist in the field of elementary particles but with a passion for sound, creates an electro-acoustic engineering firm named C.HEIL.TEA, later to be renamed L-ACOUSTICS. In October 1994, a North American licensee company called Cox Audio Engineering (later renamed L-ACOUSTICS US) is founded by Jeffrey Cox and Christian Heil, bringing V-DOSC and WST to the North American continent.

L-ACOUSTICS V-DOSC® is the first full frequency line source array based on the principles of Wavefront Sculpture Technology.

* V-DOSC is a French acronym . The "V" in V-Dosc refers to the V-shaped acoustic lens configuration employed for the mid and high frequency sections. The "DOSC" stands for "Diffuseur d'Onde Sonore Cylindrique" (Cylindrical Sound Wave Generator).

* Wavefront Sculpture Technology : Design and operating principles behind L-ACOUSTICS line source array systems, resulting from (WST) comprehensive theoretical research to determine the requirements for coherent coupling of sound sources.
