Charlie checks in on Ben Harper (Aug. 15 2005)
Charlie Musselwhite : "Hi Everybody, I just got home from an amazing tour. I went coast to coast as a guest with Ben Harper and The Innocent Criminals and sat in for three or four tunes a night. We did the title song from my album "Sanctuary" at each show as well as a couple of unreleased songs Ben wrote. A lot of folks were not familiar with my music, but they sure seemed to like what I did. We started in Los Angeles and ended up in New York City. Every night was sold out and every night was a blast for me. In fact, every day was incredible because Ben and his band (Juan, Leon, Michael, Oliver and Jason) and the entire crew, which amounted to about 25 people, were the coolest group of people to be on the road with. There was a LOT of heart and it all went in to each show. If you get a chance to see one of his shows, do not pass it up, GO! It is not a straight ahead blues show, but it has got plenty of feeling and Ben and his band blend a lot of different genres in their sound, but man oh man do they cook."

Charlie jams with Ben Harper in Chicago (Jul. 24 2005)
"On Thursday, July 21, Charlie again sat in with Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals at the sold-out Vic Theatre in Chicago, Il. Below is a review of the show from the Chicago Sun Times: [...] Harper's sound is only half the story. He means to send a message, too, and Thursday, the best of those polemics was the newest. A subtle anti-war hymn called "Gather Round the Stone," found the gray-maned Musselwhite threading subtle moans through Harper's quiet verses about a mother who lost her son too young [...] — Anders Smith Lindall.
