Bassiste - Il intègre le groupe durant la tournée Welcome To The Cruel World. Son premier concert a lieu le 30 avril 1994 au Nick's Caffé Trevi à Claremont, CA. Il n'a pas quitté le groupe depuis et a participé à tous les albums et tournées de Ben Harper.

Ben Harper : "Juan nelson, c'est un miracle, un génie. Il a tant apporté à ma musique..."

Juan Nelson : "J'ai commencé à jouer tout seul. J'ai suivi des cours pendant un an mais je n'étais pas très assidu. Je jouais et chantais sans cesse à l'Eglise."

"J'ai joué ensuite au sein de beaucoup de groupes différents. On m'a fait des propositions plus lucratives mais dans un futur immédiat, j'ai décidé de rester avec Ben. Ce groupe là compte vraiment beaucoup."

"Dans notre groupe, on prie beaucoup ensemble et la musique s'en ressent, comme dans Give a Man a Home. C'est une démarche positive pour moi de jouer avec Ben. Je trouve que ses chansons sont souvent d'une grande spiritualité. Peu de groupes ont cette dimension."
